The BTR Team

BTR Pest Control is a family-owned Michigan pest control company founded September 21, 2021. Every service call is performed by a Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) licensed pest control applicator. The BTR team brings decades of combined pest control industry experience to every home and business we serve across Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, and Livingston counties.

Meet the Team

Chris

Owner & Lead Technician

Role: Chris founded BTR Pest Control in 2021 after more than a decade in the Michigan pest control industry. He personally leads every service call, specializing in carpenter ant, rodent exclusion, and stinging insect treatment.

Certifications:

  • MDARD Licensed Pest Control Applicator (Category 7A/7B)
  • Integrated Pest Management certified
  • Bed bug treatment specialist training
  • Rodent exclusion certification

Community: Coaches Redford Wrestling alongside Carly. Active in Metro Detroit youth athletics.

Carly

Co-Owner & Operations

Role: Carly co-owns BTR Pest Control and manages all operations: scheduling, customer service, commercial contract management, and quality assurance. She is the primary contact for most BTR customer service inquiries.

  • Customer service and dispute resolution training
  • Commercial IPM program management

Community: Head coach for Redford Wrestling youth program. Active volunteer in Redford Township community events.

Chris Brown

Pest Control Technician

Role: Chris Brown serves as a full-time licensed technician on the BTR team, handling residential and commercial routes across Metro Detroit. Specializes in general pest control, rodent monitoring, and commercial IPM visits.

  • MDARD Licensed Pest Control Applicator
  • Integrated Pest Management trained
  • Commercial facility service protocols certified

Community: Coach for Redford Union Basketball. Committed to youth athletic development.

Licenses & Certifications

Michigan Pesticide Applicator License

All BTR technicians are licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) under Public Act 171 of 1976. License required for any commercial pesticide application in Michigan.

Category 7A (General Pest Management)

Covers residential and commercial structural pest control: ants, cockroaches, rodents, spiders, and general crawling insects.

Category 7B (Wood Destroying Organisms)

Covers carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and wood-destroying insect inspection and treatment.

Commercial General Liability Insurance

BTR Pest Control carries comprehensive commercial general liability insurance. Certificate of insurance available to commercial clients on request.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

All BTR technicians trained in IPM methodology: identification first, treat the cause not just the symptom, least-toxic effective product, and follow-up monitoring.

Michigan Integrated Pest Management Act Trained

BTR personnel who perform school pest control are trained in Public Act 259 of 2000 requirements for pesticide use in Michigan schools and daycare facilities.

Continuing Education Current

All BTR technicians maintain continuing education credits required for license renewal, including updates on new product labels, regulatory changes, and IPM best practices.

BBB Accredited

BTR Pest Control maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau serving Eastern Michigan.

Training & Ongoing Education

Every BTR technician begins with a structured in-field training period under a senior licensed applicator. Ongoing training covers:

Product label compliance and safe handling

Pest identification (all Michigan species)

IPM methodology and least-toxic protocols

Customer communication and service documentation

Commercial audit preparation (AIB, SQF, MDARD)

Pollinator protection and pesticide drift prevention

HIPAA awareness for medical facility service

School IPM Act compliance for school service

Community Involvement

Beyond pest control, the BTR team is deeply committed to the Metro Detroit community. Chris and Carly coach the Redford Wrestling youth program together, mentoring young athletes and supporting Redford Township athletic development. Chris Brown coaches Redford Union Basketball, contributing to youth sports in the Redford Union school district.
